Prove it works before you fund the build

Our PoC development services test the riskiest part of your idea with working code and a written assessment you can show a board. PoC and MVP builds take 4–8 weeks.

What a proof of concept gives you

A PoC tests the assumption most likely to sink your idea before you spend real money on it. Can the model reach the accuracy you need? Will the integration hold up under real data? Does the workflow make sense to the people who will use it?

We build just enough to answer that question, then write up what worked, what didn’t and what a full build would cost. The same applies to generative AI ideas, where the question is usually whether the model is reliable enough on your own data.

Research and idea validation

We research the concept with you, scope it, and list the technical constraints and risks that could stop it. The output is a short list of questions the PoC has to answer.

Design and build the prototype

We work to your fixed budget and scope and build something that proves or disproves the idea in real conditions. That can be your whole process end to end, or only the part you’re worried about.

Moving to the next phase

If the PoC works, we test it with real users and plan the MVP. If it doesn’t, you’ve found out for a fraction of the cost of a full build, and you keep the findings either way.

How we run a PoC

We check technical feasibility first, and user acceptance where it matters, before you commit serious money. You get a working prototype, a written findings report and a clear recommendation: build it, change course, or stop.

 NDA and IP protection

We sign an NDA and an IP agreement before you share the idea in detail, so it’s covered from the first conversation.

Project discovery

We agree the question the PoC must answer and what counts as success, in numbers where we can, before any code is written.

Solution architecture

We pick the simplest architecture that can answer the question, note the shortcuts we’re taking, and estimate what a production version would need.

Two ways to pay for a PoC

Fixed price suits most PoCs, because the question is narrow. Time and materials suits research-heavy work, where each step depends on the last result.

Time and materials fits work where the requirements will move. You pay for the hours worked, see a demo every sprint, and re-prioritise as results come in.

Fixed price fits a PoC with a clear question, timeline and deliverables. We agree the price before we start and you pay against milestones.

Building the smallest working thing that proves, or disproves, that an idea is technically feasible. It isn't a product. It's evidence: code, test results and a written assessment you can take to your board or investors.

Our PoC and MVP builds run 4–8 weeks. A narrow technical PoC sits at the short end; an MVP that real users can sign up to sits at the long end.

It depends on the question being tested, the data involved and the size of the squad. We scope it on a free 30-minute call and send a written proposal within two working days, as a fixed price or as time and materials if the work is research-heavy.

A PoC proves an idea is technically feasible. A prototype shows how the product will look and behave. An MVP is a working product with the core features, used by real early users. We build all three, and we'll tell you which one your situation calls for.

We test it with users and plan the next step: an MVP, a project-based build or a dedicated team. The PoC code is sometimes reused and sometimes thrown away; we'll tell you which and why.

Yes. For generative AI ideas the PoC usually measures whether the model is accurate and reliable enough on your own data. We set up an evaluation harness so the answer is a number you can track, not an impression from a demo.

PoC development in detail

What does a proof of concept cost, and how long does it take?

A PoC or MVP build with us takes 4–8 weeks, and we agree the pricing in writing before we start. Before any code, we agree in writing the question the PoC must answer and what counts as success. At the end you get the code, the test results and a written recommendation, even when the answer is no.

4–8 week build

Narrow technical PoCs at the short end, user-facing MVPs at the long end.

Success criteria first

Agreed in writing, in numbers where possible, before any code.

Findings report

Code, test results and a recommendation: build, change course or stop.

Four to eight weeks, start to finish

The schedule depends on the question. Proving that a model works on your data is quicker than proving a new workflow with real users.

After the first call you get a scoped proposal within two working days.

  1. Discovery call and proposal

Thirty minutes, free, then a scoped proposal within two working days with the question, the success criteria, the pricing and the schedule.

  2. Week 1: define the test

Success criteria in numbers where possible, sample data, and the shortcuts we're allowed to take because this isn't production.

  3. Build (most of the 4–8 weeks)

Short sprints with a demo each time. If the idea fails early, we tell you early and you stop paying for it.

  4. Evaluate

We measure against the agreed criteria: accuracy, speed, cost per transaction, or what test users actually did.

  5. Findings report and next step

What worked, what didn't, what a production build would need and what it would cost. Then you decide.

AI and LLM proofs of concept

Most AI ideas fail on reliability, not on the demo. We build an evaluation harness against your own data so the PoC ends with a measured accuracy, not a feeling. Production work then moves to AI MVP development or generative AI solutions.

Evidence you can share

The findings report is written for the people who decide on funding: what we tested, how, what happened, and what we'd do next. No marketing gloss. It's produced under our ISO/IEC 20000-1 certified service processes.

Clear ownership

NDA and IP agreement before you share the details. Fixed price or time and materials, agreed before work starts.

Where a PoC sits among our engagement models

ModelTeam sizeStart timePick it when
Staff augmentation1–5 engineers5–10 working daysYou already have a team and a lead, and need more hands or one skill you lack.
Dedicated team3–15+ engineers2–4 weeksA product that will keep changing for a year or more, and you want the same people on it.
Project-basedScoped to the work1–3 week discoveryThe scope is clear enough to fix, and you want us accountable for delivery against milestones.
PoC / MVPSmall squad4–8 week buildYou need to prove an idea works, or put a first version in front of users, before committing more.

Pricing is scoped and quoted after a free 30-minute discovery call, with a written proposal within two working days. Dedicated teams and staff augmentation run on 30 days' written notice; projects end on milestone acceptance.

When this isn't the right fit

  • You already know it works and need it in production. Go straight to an MVP or a scoped project.
  • The idea depends on data you don't have yet. Collect and label the data first; a PoC on made-up data proves little. See data labeling.
  • You want a polished demo for a pitch next week. A PoC is about evidence, and 4–8 weeks is the honest minimum for that.
