On 23 May 2025, the Department of Artificial Intelligence (DoAI) at Kathmandu University’s School of Engineering and Dignep Group Pvt. Ltd. signed a memorandum of understanding to work together on AI education, research and practical projects.
The agreement links the department’s teaching and research with Dignep’s engineering work, so students get industry experience and joint projects can draw on both sides.
What does the MoU cover?
It covers student upskilling, industry exposure through guest lectures and mentoring, internships and joint research, faculty and scholar exchange, and co-hosted events. It also gives students, faculty and partners such as Dignep access to KU’s GPU cluster for work on real problems.
- Student upskilling: programmes that teach industry-relevant AI skills.
- Industry exposure: guest lectures, experience-sharing sessions and mentoring by Dignep engineers.
- Internships and research: internship places for students and joint research projects.
- Faculty exchange and events: exchange of faculty and research scholars, and jointly hosted conferences, workshops and seminars.
- Shared computing: KU’s GPU cluster is available for projects such as language translation tools, farming applications and healthcare diagnostics.
Both organisations have also agreed to promote each other’s initiatives.

The Department of Artificial Intelligence at Kathmandu University offers undergraduate, postgraduate and research programmes. Its teaching covers machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, computer vision, robotics and AI ethics, with an emphasis on hands-on projects and collaboration with industry.
