We’re a Nepal-based company, so read this with that in mind. We’ve tried to be straight about where India and the Philippines are the better choice, and we’ve only quoted prices we can stand behind, which means our own.
Does the country still matter when everyone works remotely?
Yes. Location still shapes cost, which skills you can find at scale, how many working hours you share, and the legal and payment arrangements. Within any country, the gap between a good and a bad vendor is larger than the gap between countries. Pick the country first, then judge the vendor on evidence.
How do Nepal, India and the Philippines compare at a glance?
India has the largest and most mature IT services industry, with depth in almost every technology. The Philippines is strongest in BPO and support, with high English proficiency and a growing software sector. Nepal is a smaller, younger engineering market where vendors are less saturated and teams tend to be smaller.

How much does software outsourcing cost in Nepal?
Far less than the US or Western Europe, and competitive within South Asia. The price depends on seniority, team size, engagement length and stack. We quote after a free 30-minute call, with a written proposal within two working days, and Nepal-based clients can be billed in rupees.
We don’t quote rates for any of the three countries here, because they vary widely by city and vendor, and averages hide that. Get two or three quotes for the same scope and compare them on the full cost: rate, management time on your side, rework and how long it takes to get started. When is India the better choice?
When you need scale, breadth or an established enterprise vendor. If you’re planning a team of 50 or 100 engineers, need rare platform specialists such as SAP or mainframe skills, or your procurement process requires a large listed vendor, India’s market is hard to beat. Nepal can’t match that depth.
India also shares almost the whole working day with Nepal, since IST is only 15 minutes behind us.
When is the Philippines the better choice?
When the work is customer-facing support, back-office processing or round-the-clock service desks. The Philippine BPO industry is built around that kind of work, including night shifts aligned to US hours. For pure product engineering the market is smaller, so compare carefully on technical depth.
When does Nepal make sense?
When you want a dedicated engineering team of a few people up to fifteen or more, working only on your product for the long term, at a lower cost than Indian metros. Vendors here are less saturated, so a mid-sized client gets more senior attention. It works best for clients in Europe, Australia and India, who share part of our day.

What about time zones?
None of the three countries has a natural daytime overlap with the US. Nepal (UTC+5:45) shares almost the whole day with India, about 3–4 hours with Sydney, about 4 hours with Central Europe and about 3 with the UK. For US clients, we agree a fixed daily call window before kickoff, usually by moving the team lead’s working day.

How do you choose a partner, wherever they are?
Ask for evidence: case studies with named clients, the CVs of the engineers you’ll actually get, certifications you can verify, and a short paid pilot. Check who owns the code and IP from day one, and what the notice period is. These matter more than the country.

ISO/IEC 20000-1 shows a formal IT service management system. ISO 27001 covers information security. Ask for the certificate and check its scope, because certificates only cover what they list.
